Jillian Michael's Kicks My Ass!!!

I have been doing Pilates for years. Occasionally I get in a funk and don't do them for a month or two, but it is HONESTLY when I am really busy doing other physically activities... like archaeological digs in the New Mexican desert. But my roommate and I started Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and it is painfully awesome!

Here is how it works. You have three levels: 1, 2 and 3 respectively because to have other numbers would be disrespectful to logic. You do each level for 10 days and then move on to the next level. It is three 6 minutes sets of 3 min. weight, 2 min. cardio, and 1 min. abs. It is awesome.

Day 1 was exhilarating and hard. You feel terrible because you are a fatty but so good that you are doing something about it!

Day 2 was more exhilarating and harder. Your muscles are stiff, the moves aren't easier, but there is one consolation: you have more endurance!

Day 3 is HELL! You hurt. You suck. You don't do any worse than Day 2, but you don't do any better. And there is just a lot of pain! But you get through it because you know Day 3 always sucks in a workout routine. And the challenge of surviving drives you.

Day 4 is okay. You don't really hurt. You are better at the routine. You feel stronger. You last longer. Only, you are tired and your motivation was used up on Day 3.

We did Day 5 today. It wasn't pretty. We were exhausted before it started! We aren't sure what happened. The kittens popped my air-mattress and I've been sleeping on a thin pile of blankets on a very hard wood floor for days, which means not really sleeping. My roommate and I were amazingly productive for the better part of the day and it was exhausting. Or maybe, just maybe, 5 days of a bad-ass exercise routine without rest finally got to us. Either way, we finished it even if we did take a two minute water break in the middle of a 20 minutes workout. It was pathetic.

On a different note: here is my short-term goal. I want to get back to the weight I was when I re-entered Amerique at the end of last October. Or I want to weigh what I did at the end of September before I left Cambodia. Turns out my India excursion added a good 3-5 pounds to my corpus. It is about 30-35 pounds, but I figure it only took me about six months to put it on so I can take it off in three to six months. Here are some pictures of my short term goal (it shouldn't be too hard).

End of October 2010, Portland, OR, USA

You are amazing Jo! Man, Jillian Michaels will motivate the hell out of you though. I don't want her coming through my TV, that's for sure. :) I am so glad you, me, and Mande are in this together. We can do it!!!

I have been doing Jillian too! On and off for the past 3 months. After 4 days or 5 days in a row I got bored and sick of hearing her voice so i just wrote down everything she did on a piece of paper and came up with my own routine...downside is I am not as motivating to me as Jillian is hence why i can never stick with it. Keep up the good work and lay off the raspberries and cheese combo even though both are delish seperately i would not like the taste of the two regurgitated together while listening to Jillian Michaels bark and her two pals in the back who have intense, ridiculous bods watch from the background! I miss you and hope you are doing well!

I thought about writing it down and doing it that way! It would be more efficient. I need a stop watch or something so that I can tell when to switch! You are so beautiful Christine!!! Thanks for your comment!
